Teen Panel Presentations
The most unique component of the Free to Be program is the Teen Panel presentation provided by Free to Be’s exceptional team of volunteer Peer Educators. The Peer Educators present their message to approximately 2,000 teens in Northern California each year.

During Teen Panel presentations, Peer Educators share with other teens their personal reasons for making healthy choices, including postponing sexual activity until marriage. Some of the topics they discuss are:
- The freedoms they’ve gained through that decision
- Their goals for the future
- Their personal experiences in relationships
- How they “walk the talk”
Each academic year, Free to Be nominates one exceptional Peer Educator to serve as a Youth Board Member on the Board of Directors.
The Youth Board Member meets with the Board of Directors every other month to:
- Help plan upcoming events
- Advise the staff and board on today’s youth culture
- Assist with Peer Educator recruitment
- Provide supportive relationships for newer Peer Educators
Being a Part of Free to Be.
Regular Social EventsBesides presenting the Free to Be message to over 2,000 teens every year, our staff and youth have a lot of fun. Free to Be plans regular social events for our Peer Educators. Future socials in the works are Zombie Tag, Downtown Scavenger Hunt, Lazertag, and a Super Hero Party!
Grow As A TeamEducational workshops for Peer Educators provide an opportunity for our youth and staff to gather as a team, grow in their knowledge, and support each other in their commitments. This year, Free to Be’s Annual PE Retreat will be held in Lake Tahoe. Peer Educators will enjoy three days of educational workshops and team building exercises.
Spread the WordFree to Be youth and staff exhibit our materials and resources frequently at school, health and community fairs.
Adult MentorsIn August 2014, Free to Be launched it’s Adult Mentor component. We are fortunate to have an amazingly enthusiastic group of young adult role models who are serving in ways that are consistent with their personal values and the mission of Free to Be. Our Adult Mentors help empower our high school-aged volunteer Peer Educators to make positive life choices. norway By becoming part of this supportive social network of adults and community members who care about our Peer Educators, each Adult Mentor can help these youth to develop and reach positive personal, academic, and career goals. Please contact Kelsey for more information about this volunteer opportunity.
